Old Tikiowned |
Provided you know a little bit about the Tiki culture, when you try this the first on your mind will be is this Mai Tai variation. In fact, it is not. But it is part of Tiki's. After all the classic recipes of both cocktails call for the same Jamaican dark rum. And after all, they are not so different.
What is unique for Planter's Punch is fruity nature. It is mixed with lime juice, wheter it will be still well balanced, used lemon juice, but this only softens the drink even further. And this is why it is so effective, just like the Mojito, it has fresh approach and aroma catches you off-guard. Tell me, how resisting this can be told possible?
Recipe of Planter's Punch
3 oz - Dark Rum
2 and 1/3 oz - Orange Juice ( preferably fresh )
2 and 1/3 oz - Pineapple Juice ( not necessary fresh )
1 and 1/3 oz - Fresh Lemon Juice
2/3 oz - Grenadine
2/3 oz - Simple syrup
Two or Three dashes of Angostura Bitters
Mixing the ingredients
Chill a Highball glass and pour everything without the bitters in a shaker. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds, here it is very important, because we have many juices. Strain into the chilled glass and garnish with mint-sprig. Do not bother using straw, you will be unable to smell the flavors so well, but taste remains the same, try now!
